Inscribed with "Ils s'aimaient d'amour tendre," which translates to "they loved each other with a tender love." 

Hallmarked for the workshop of renowned French jeweler, goldsmith and sculptor Edmond-Henri Becker who drew inspiration for this piece from Jean de La Fontaine’s famous 17th-century fable, The Two Pigeons. Becker sculpted and registered this original "Love Birds" design at the turn of the century.
